First I saw Cowboy and Voodoo just trolling along. Seemed on their way to somewhere. These two bachelor stallions are often seen together.
Next I spot a horse hiding behind a little hill. On closer inspection I see it is the bay stallion, Viggo, and his band. This is the pinto mare in the group.
There is Stomper looking down at me. His dam plus the pinto mare are very pregnant. Any day now for both of them!
Here is Charm, the yearling filly in the family. She is a nice pinto like her mom.
I don't know what they were looking at, but something sure was interesting them. The black mare does not have a baby and does not look pregnant. She seems to be alpha mare.
Such a pretty band of wild horses. I wonder if the medicine hat mare will throw another pinto colored foal?
I love their roman noses! See how pregnant the pinto mare is? Wow.

Well, that brings us to Rita and her new foal. Front and center. The handsome horse on the right is Rita's yearling colt.
The black stallion, Slick, has just recently acquired these mares. They used to be with a buckskin stallion who I have not seen him around the range. The mares have not fully accepted the new band stallion, especially the sorrel one, she did not seem happy with the new guy.
Here are the mares Rita and Hazel with their yearlings, both colts and the new foal. They seem unsure about the stallion.
Sister Hazel is a beauty and very pregnant. Her mane almost touches the groud!
This guy was born healthy and strong. Biggest, chunkiest foal I have seen! He is a colt!
Here is the black stallion. He has one white sock on his front. He seems pleased with his new family. There are many more stallions then mares out at Sand Wash. Slick was lucky to have found these mares. I'm sure he battled a bit to win them over.

Off they go! I was lucky to observed them so close, specially with the new foal. Thanks horses!
I also saw Jet's band on this day. They are all accounted for. Kinstry is still the only 2010 foal. Sun Spot, the grey, looks pregnant.
As usual, Jet was very skittish and did not stick around long. This group really travels around the basin. You never know where you will see them.
On my way out I saw Benson, he was with Snow Man. Another great day spent out at Sand Wash Basin with the wild horses.
