Cowboy is having no trouble keeping his weight his winter, he is what you'd call "an easy keeper". His coat was shiny , he looks great! He is normally with a little chestnut stallion we call Voodoo, but I do not see him on this day.
Here is Snow Man. He was busy all summer teaching yearling colts who had gotten kicked out of their bands or orphaned, the ways of the range. Last winter he hung out with Benson, who I have not see since the day I saw him with the domestic mare up on 7 mile ridge. The bachelors roam from friend to friend. These two are in the same "click".
There was a cold wind blowing. Cowboy did not seem to care. Look how chunky he is!
Little does he know that two mule deer have come to share secrets behind him.
Snow Man is a wise older stallion. You can tell he has been around Sand Wash a time or two. There are a lot of grey stallions. You can tell this one by his thin tail and dark legs.
Cowboy discovers he has drifted too far from Snow Man and makes his way back to his buddy.
They eat a lot of this prickly bush. They have become foragers more then gazers this winter with the big snow load. Seems like they can eat just about anything. On this day they never stopped munching on something.
Snow Man got up on the hywy. Maybe he is tired of being knee deep in the snow? He seems happy to hit the pavement and does a little trot.
See his legs? Maybe he is looking for a place to melt the snow off.
Of course Cowboy follows. I hear a car coming and so do they. They seem kinda car savvy and get off the road.
But they pick the wrong side. The lady stops and they are on their way...
