As usual, Splash is hard to approach, but I managed to get a few shots of this unusually marked mare.
Here she is with Roosevelt. I cannot be sure of his coloring. Just a good looking Sand Wash colt.
On this day we also bumped into the young palomino stallion that Pam will name and Outlaw, the chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. He has a distinctive blaze that wraps around his left eye.
Pretty palomino. There are a few horses of this color in the herd.
Here he is again. We observed them while they circled around us, just on the edge of their flight zone. Both stallions look great, blooming.
I have seen Outlaw with quite a few different boys, he doesn't seem to have a best buddy.
After they were done checking us out they ran, like wild horses do.
Here is Ranger, the horse that had his picture taken by all the photographers the day of the workshop. Many people said he looked like Hildago. He is an overo pinto. All mustang.
This is the white mare from the spooky band. I couldn't believe she let us get this close. She lives in a band of 4 with a beautiful bay stallion. She is listening to Jared (the boy) whistle at her.
Mutual grooming. The mustangs spend a lot of there time grooming one another, hence their glistening coats, manes and tails.
This is the band that is hanging out near Chief and his family. They have a new foal you can see here on the left.
Nursing. In every photo I took the mares tail looks purple.
This dark bay I'll call Brave. He takes good care of his little band.
Sometimes 2 bands will buddy up like Chief's and Brave's.
He is a good looking boy, for sure! Not too difficult to pick out the stallion in this photo!
This will be a hard band to get to know, they are not very tolerant of 2 leggeds. I would like to know if the little guy is a colt or a filly. Time will tell...
