Cobolt's Band

Here is the shy, elusive band led by the black stallion, Cobolt.

I had to hike quite a ways to get a good look at them, but it was worth it. Such a great looking band. Cobolt, like many "band" stallions, has just one mature mare. Here is is.

The mare, Mahogany, is wary. Her new filly, CJ, is lying down aways from here in the grass. I respect this and do not put any pressure on her. The filly with the long stripe is Ohyee, her yearling daughter. The other chestnut is the 2009 filly, Skye, she came from Ohitika's band.

The wary mare, Mahogany.

Beautiful Skye.

The foal gets up and heads straight to her mom for a suck.

I don't stay long. I can tell they want to be left alone. They do not trust humans. I just feel fortunate I get this little glimpse into their very secret, mustang lives.

Cobolt's band is wary of humans still, once again, they seem to know who comes in peace; Nancy!

CJ is too cool for words.

small band, proud and bold stallion, cautious and caring mares and fillies. Skye is so soft to the eye.
