Dusk's Small Family

My friend and I were very lucky to have an encounter with Dusk on this day. She has come a far to view the mustangs and has a special fondness of Dusk, whom she calls Ash. She knows him better then I. The last time she saw him (last fall) he was very beat up. I saw her smile as we see Dusk (Ash) is blooming and has a young mare and her filly by his side.
Actually, we had to hike a ways out to get a look at them, but they let us approach and seem to show off the new filly. She is a nice bay with a great big star...my friend names (ID's) her as Sioux.
She is a sweet heart and very full of herself on this day. By the looks of it she was an early foal. She has good size to her already. The mare is quite petite. We decide to call her Kootchie, but I have to look back at my records and see if it is not a filly we called Bonnie last spring.. I want to make sure we do not count horses twice. They need all the help they can get. We need to buy some more time to study these rare Colorado mustangs. Yes, there are quite a few foals, but there are also mares with none.....also many horses have escaped or perished. We must take this into consideration when we count the individuals.  Sidenote 9/10/11  This is the 2 year old Bonnie who I obseved last year with the other orphan, Clyde and 2 mature bachelor stallion...this one, Dusk and the bay, Sundown.
Dusk makes a wonderful father and seems to take pride in his very first filly!
He has a lovely neck and beautiful coloring. He has chosen a spot to stay away from other horses on this day. Look for this stallion to get more mares....I think he has what it takes.
