Cosmo's band

Cosmo is in the rear, his mares lead him towards some water.
The band stallion, Cosmo. His mane falls in cords, so beautiful!

Tulip, Grace, Cowgirl and the filly, Juniper . Cosmo has an all girl band!

Jess, I love her silver mane. She seems like a young horse to me. I saw Cosmo trying to mount her this winter so obviously she is not his.

Cosmo with his new catch. The mare with half an ear missing, I call her Pearl.

Grace is a Grulla, she has a dorsal stripe down her back. None of these mares looked pregnant, I am sure they have all recieved the PZP drug.

Cosmo and Pearl.

I bet that ear got frost bit!

Cosmo between Grace and Cowgirl, one happy stallion!

Here is Juniper with her new auntie.

Cowgirl, there is not a lot of Duns on the range. She stands out!

Juniper as an yearling, she will grey out.

These girls were very curious and started walking right towards me!

Love this color!

A very scruffy Jess.

The stallion Cosmo, one of the many shades of grey on the range.

Today I am very fortunate, I bump into Cosmo's gang! They are such a fun group to observe because they are so tolerant of my presence. I know they are one of the HSUS study groups, maybe that is why. The first thing I notice is that there is a new mare in the band and it is Cyclone's grey with the one half ear. I wonder what went down? Anyway she seems content being with Cosmo, his four other mares and their one yearling. They are all shedding out and were spring frisky. They are eating the first blades of green grass and able to find water. Life is good out at Sand Wash. It is also very quiet out at the Basin. I saw no dirt bikes or 4 wheelers, a little too wet yet. Lots of signs of where the sheep had been, but never actually saw any. I am pretty sure they took them out. I didn't hang out too long, never want to over stay my visit. It was interesting, I also saw Sterling's band near. I was shocked because they were so far from where they spent the winter. More on that later...

The mare you call Grace is definitely grulla, but the mare Cowgirl isn't sorrel - she's dun! Beautiful girls!

Thanks for the info TJ, I can use all the help I can get! I am pretty sure you saw this group with Amanda from the Humane Society. I think she is the one who calls the stallion Cosmo, just going from yours and Pam's blog. I have tried to contact the Humane Society numorous times, but no reply...It would be nice to compare notes.
