Corona's Band
I have been seeing a lot of Corona and band this winter. His band is doing great....this is one of the largest bands on the range.
Most of us agree Cheyenne is his lead mare. I am not sure, but I think she might be pregnant. She has not had a foal since 2009 (Tripod).
Isn't she beautiful?
That is the little palo filly we call Can Wakan. She is trying to get a sniff of me.
This is the other two year old filly, Maybell. She is a full sister to Can Wakan.
The grey mare, Indian Rose, is shy and hard to photograph. It is her and the sorrel mare that have the foals. The black (Em) and Cheyenne are not so prolific.
Indian Rose's youngsters (Yampatika and Indiana Jones)....She also has a two year old colt that runs with the bachelors (Craig), but he has not been seen for a very long time.
Corona is a loving father.
Zoomed in...

Corona's Band
Corona with his 2011 filly, Can Wakan (Sun Dance).
Little Indiana Jones. He was born after Can Wakan. He is an independent little guy and has what it takes to be called a wild mustang.
Corona striking a pose. He seems to know he is special.
The Basin received some good rains last week. Look how clean and shiny our pretty boy is.
Corona in his prime. I pray he will not be harassed by a helicopter.
"snaking" his mares.

Corona's Band
Finally! It hs been a long time since I have seen Corona's band, but today they are right off the road. Everyone is there since the last time I obseved them, which was last June.
Corona looks fabulous. He is in his prime and I consider him "the King of Sand Wash Basin". He takes my breath away!
He seems proud of his 20011 foals, Indiana Jones and Can Wakan. They are just perfect in every way. They love to play together. Indiana is a colt and Can Wakan is a filly. Can Wakan was born first.
So cute!
They are both happy, playful mustangs.
The grey mare, Indian Rose, is Indiana's mom and she also has her yearling filly, Yampatika, by her side.
It is hard to mistake Cheyenne, Corona's lead mare. She is the only pinto/palomino on the range. No foal for her this year, nor last year. Not every mare is prolific.
Cheyene from the side.
Maybell, one of the many 2 year old fillies who is still with their families. There is another 2 year old filly in this band, the bay, One Spirit.
Corona on the run...
He meets up with Rounder. They exchange a few postures, and Corona proves he is dominant.
After Corona confronts the other stallion he snakes his band and runs them in a great big circle. It was a sight to behold.
To see wild mustangs running free as they were meant is an honor.
I am amazed how healthy and fit these wild horses are. They can really run! This was a fun encounter, one I will not forget.

Corona's Band
Here is the other 2 year old filly in the band besides One Spirit. She is Lona's. Just a nice sorrel. Named after a nearby town.
Yampatika has the "primitive" look. She reminds me of a Pryor Mountain horse.
Corona in his prime.
One of the largest harems on the range..
The bugs were so bad on this morning...you can even see them if you look closely.
The palomino pinto, Cheyenne, is Corona's lead mare and companion. She came in with him at the 2008 round up. She also has not had a foal since 2009.
Corona's beautiful babies....
This is our pride and joy (and Corona's too) his little palomino daughter, Can Wakan, who was born a couple of months before Indiana. She has inherited her sire's good looks...for sure.
What a wonderful morning! The first band I see is Corona's, our famous dunalino.
Trailing the band is the newest member, our very own Indiana Jones!
