The two horses on the left are yearlings, Moon and Nick. The pintos, Kiowa and Willie, are older bachelor stallions.
Sparrow seems quite content with these guys, maybe they wil help her survive by looking out for her.
Here is the handsome dun, Roper.
See how little Sparrow is not developing correctly? I don't know what is wrong with her, but she is awfully thin.
This little roan got kicked out of his family band early. He has been with the bachelors for much of the summer.
This is the other yearling. He has been with the big boys since at least this spring.
Kiowa. the pinto, was in charge on this day.
Here is Roper's mustang profile.
As I observed them, I only saw them being nice to the little filly who is from Eagle's band.
That's Willie Nelson out front. He is a magnificant color, a grey pinto. He is also very tall....a real stand out in this herd. Even his tail is greyand white, just stunning.
At least Sparrow has a couple of horses her age in this group. She seems to be good buddies with the roan, Half Moon. I am really pulling for this underdog along with other folks in our group that love these wild horses of Colorado.

Beautiful! A few years ago we were lucky to see wild horses on BLM land in northwest Colorado west of Maybelle, CO. I will forever remember the beauty and grace of the wild horses and hope to get the opportunity to view more in the future.
