Butch and Streaker
Surprise! Surprise! Nomad has picked up Rita (out in front) and her yearling palo colt, Butch. His lead mare Feather and her 2 year old filly are there too. It is so great to see them all.
One little filly is very happy with this arrangement and that would be Streaker! She was an only foal for a long time... Her and Butch seem to be best of friends. Both look great and wintered well. Nomad is a good, seasoned stallion. That makes a difference in how a band winters out on the range.
Butch.
There's the band stallion, Nomad. He gets huge in the summer. He is a lean machine coming out of this brutal winter.
So there they are....survivors of the winter of 2011. We will watch as these horses bloom.
For now it is a nice cool drink and a quiet day on the range. Nomad's mare Feather, Streaker's mom. Not pregnant. Yay!
Butch will be a nice palomino.
I don't think his wise old dam is pregnant. I hope not, she could use a break.
They leave as quick as they come. It was nice to see this band all looking and feeling so good.
