His lead mare, Ginger, is very pregnant. I think this dun is an older mare. She came out of winter skin and bones, but quickly put on weight like a mustang can. Last summer Brave had another mare, the white, Vermillion. Chief took her.
But in the meantime Brave won over Ellie and her 2 year old filly, Flirt, from Bear, our branded black stallion. Here is Ellie with Ginger's yearling colt, Frisky. He was hassling her, trying to get her to play.
....This is how she responded. Frisky will have to play with Flirt, they are the best of friends. Flirt had always been an only foal until Ginger and Frisky came along.
This is Flirt. She is a real jewel. We had a horse color expert tell us she will eventually grey out like her mom, but for now she is a beautiful palomino with a silver mane. This is a filly we must let stay if we have a "gather". Her coloring is exquisite and so is she.
See the hernia? I like Brave, he really looks like an old fashioned horse. Such great bone on this stud.
These horses are getting pretty relaxed around humans. More and more folks are coming out to the range and discovering the magic of Sand Wash Basin. I think it is a good thing. It will be easier for us to manage the size of the herd. One mare I would give PZP to would be Ginger. She could use a break. But for now we will celebrate the new life when it happens.
Brave and Flirt. I have not seen any sexual behavior displayed yet between these two. She is just coming 2. Brave is not her sire, there is really no way to tell who is, but she spent her yearling summer with Bear.

I don't agree about flirt's color. She is a sooty palomino and not going to grey. I guess time will tell.
