Here is the grullo, Renegade again. I wanted to show you what a nice mane he has. He is yet to shed out, but is still beautiful. He has one very pregnant mare and her two year old filly with him.
This dun band stallion is not named yet. I have seen him occasionally, but not enough to get much info. I know the mares are in the PZP study as I saw the HSUS trying to dart them last fall.
This black horse is his (the dun's) satellite stallion we call Spyder. on his other side he has a lightning bolt marking. On this side he has that smudge on his neck.
Here are two of the dun's mares. Beautiful pinto wild ponies. The one on the left is named Splash. The other mare needs an ID.
This is the two year old we call Roosevelt. He has really grown and is getting to be quite the looker! His dam is the pinto above, Splash.
I ran into Centauro's two foals on this day. Here is the little pinto. She has really grown. The mare is very wary and leads her off.
The dapple grey band stallion, Centauro. He really has the look of a Spanish horse.
There are Centauro's two foals together. I am glad they have each other to play with. So many bands out at SWB only have one youngster. Not every mare has a foal here. This herd will not double in four years.
I just thought this was a cute shot of Butch with his mom. I love this band of horses. I am glad I have seen them a bunch this spring. I saw Butch after he was just born. He has really grown into a handsome devil and full of himself. He is usually playing with his brothers. It was cute to see him all relaxed next to his wiley old mom.
Bug's band. Skip , one of the two year old colts, is missing...
I find him later hanging out with bad boys, Haze and Hurricane. I wouldn't be surprised if he strikes out on his own soon.
That's Corona having a word with Haze and Hurricane. Corona is a dominant band stallion and not too many horses mess with him. Corona started this.
A rare shot of Corona and Picasso together. The two icons. My camera quit working here so I just watched the two bands interact. Picasso's mare, Mingo, who lost her foal a couple of weeks ago, was eyeing Wakan Can, Corona's beautiful palomino newborn filly. Ok ready to head out tomorrow to bring you more range news.
