Tonka's Band feat Rocket

Rudi, from Tonka's band, has had her new foal. He is a sturdy little colt. We will call him Rocket.
By the looks of it he was born early this spring. Rudi is a good mom. She has not had a foal for at least two years. She looks great and is constantly watching out for little Rocket.
See how big he is already? I think he is going to be grey like his sire, Tonka. Do you?
This is Rocket's yearling "brother" Zorro. Tonka is not his sire. Show Girl, his dam, was not with Tonka until right after she gave birth to Zorro. The HSUS named her Show Girl because she kept switching stallions, but she seems content with this band.

Now Zorro has a buddy! I watched as they ran around and around a tree. These two brothers will learn the ways of a wild horse together. Lots of sorrels in this band.
Ther is Show Girl, Zorro's mom. She does not look pregnant this year.
The very handsome, proud mustang band stallion, Tonka. This might be his first foal.

i found Tonka a great subject to photograph. his mane in wild, his hide scarred and full of character. Tonka pushed his band to the top of a rise in the land. i took a few shots of Rocket. he's beautiful and, like Tonka, stands proud. Rockets bound for glory in the Sand Wash!
