Tonka's Band
First horse I see today is Tonka. This was a nice surprise because I had not seen him and his mares for a long time. He is a lean horse at the best of times, I think he came out of winter looking pretty good.
There is his little pinto mare Show girl with her yearling colt, Zorro. Show Girl is thin, but does not look pregnant. Zorro is a healthy, sound colt. Show Girl was playing lead mare on this day. As I observed an airplane flew quite close and low which spooked the horses.
Rudi, Tonkas other mare, is very pregnant! She has not had a foal for the last couple of years. Look for this one to be born soon!
I can tell Tonka from the other greys by his conformation. When I first met him he was a bachelor and then acquired Rudi. He stole Show Girl from Viggo right after she gave birth to Zorro. Or did Show Girl steal Tonka? The HSUS girl told me Show Girl was a bit of a "hussy", hence her name. She does seem to always be "looking around". It will be fun to see where she goes next...
Off they go....they seem to like to hang out near Viggo's band. Show Girl's yearling two year old filly is in that band.
