Workshop

There are some nice folks that have come from far away to participate in a photography workshop, mostly filming cowboys and the neighboring Sombrero horses, but they have a free day and would like to see the mustangs. Check out the lens! This man has led an amazing life and I am thrilled he has come out to see the herd I love so much.
We have very little luck getting close to horses this day except for Ranger. At first he was with 2 other boys, but then split off and headed towards the water.

He seems to enjoy the attention! He hams it up and puts on quite a show getting a drink of water. It was quite a sight to see!

Ranger showed everyone how beautiful, proud, and free a Sand Wash wild horse is.

Hopefully some of the photos will get to people that don't realize how gorgeous these animals are in their natural surroundings. They should be managed humanely on the range not put into feed lot settings where the spirit gets sucked out of them.

As we were on our way out I notice this band on a ridge. I can identify the red roan stallion as the one I call Tashunka. if you look very closely you will notice they have a new foal. Next time... On this tour I learned the horses are much more leery of a group of people then just me when I am alone, but it is fun sharing.
